Are You Ready For an Avalanche?

Backcountry season is upon us, and we would like to stress the importance of safety on the mountain and being ready in case you find yourself in an avalanche.

Here’s a few facts about avalanches:
1.  Backcountry and cross country skiers are at the greatest risk of being involved in an avalanche.
2.  Highest avalanche fatalities occur in January, February, and March.
3.  Beacons DO save lives.  Activating a beacon greatly increases your chance of survival.  Once buried under the snow, a beacon is your only portal to the outside world.
4.  Avalache risk is at its greatest 24 hrs following a snow fall.
5.  Cracks and whooping sounds are good warnings of a pending avalanche.

To ensure your safety stop by Mountain to Sound Outfitters to get the newest technology in avalanche safety gear!

Stay safe out there.
